Sixth Sense

Development of computers and internet has turned the whole world into a 'Global village', it is claimed. Great! Anybody with these facilities can have access to the pool of information on anything under the sun.

Come to think of it, when was the world not a global village? The knowledge pool is out there, was always there for anybody with developed antennas to gain access. What are these antennas? The sixth sense which is present in each one of us but very few develop it. We are more concerned about the other five senses.

Consider the sense of hearing. Unless we develop it, can we distinguish between the different musical instruments used in an orchestra and enjoy all of them when a song is being played? Similarly if we devote time and effort, we can develop our sixth sense and gain access to the Universal Knowledge pool. Doesn't it sound great?

And , do you know that your sixth sense can save your life?

How to develop sixth sense

With patience and perseverance we can develop our sixth sense. We were all born with it. But either we never cared to nurture it, or ignored it. Remember the time you were going to eat that piece of cake  when your stomach was full and you felt something inside you telling that you shouldn't be eating it. But if that message is ignored and many similar incidences happen, you stop feeling that.

If you are in the habit of meditating, after you finish, spend some time just going through every part of your body, starting from the soles to the top of your head. Try to feel what the body is trying to communicate with you.

An everyday exercise

Make each meal a meditative exercise. When a morsel is being chewed in the mouth, be totally aware. As you swallow, try to feel the journey of that food through the food pipe to the stomach. After one particular morsel, the body will give the signal, 'Enough of food for now.' Try to catch that signal.

Over time you will see that your sensitivity increases and you will get back the sixth sense that you were born with.
